Video Game Testing Jobs : Three Tips To Get Better Jobs
Article by Jonny Evans
Video game testing is fast becoming a career in this day and age of computer games. It’s great to find employment with something that you truly enjoy and can effectively utilize your natural skills. Basically, video game testing jobs require you to test the game to uncover any problems. Sound easy, right? You might have been employed as a game tester previously if this kind of work sounds enjoyable and rewarding to you. Do you want to get more video game testing jobs? Then read on. 1. Maintain contact with company that have employed you after you’ve completed your initial assignment. Your first job with a company should be used as a gateway towards obtaining future game testing jobs from that same company. Talk with your employer and request an honest review of the work you’ve done for them so far. If you get good feedback from them then you should make it known to them that you are willing to take on more game testing jobs. 2. Even when there’s little work doing video game testing jobs to be had, keep on promoting yourself! There will be periods of time when you are between assignments, so keep the attitude of a freelance worker. That means using the Internet to make others aware of what you can do. For example, you could create a website with game reviews or one that merely promotes your video game testing skills. Promote your online work by posting relevant comments on articles from Joystiq, 1up and Kotaku. You can also go to gaming forums and join discussions about game testing or just about gaming in general. 3. Attend conventions related to gaming. E-mail is definitely a good way to make contact with various video game companies, of course. But you can really improve your reputation with face-to-face contact. Blizzard Con, PAX, and E3 are all conventions where you can make important headway into the industry by making contacts. So the thing that you need to do is to follow up on the game companies after your first video game testing job, promote yourself during downtimes, attend gaming cons to bolster your reputation and gain contacts.

Works as expected,
This isn’t a review for the game. This is a review for the 60-day online timecard.
The card was easy to use, just go to your Cryptic account at [...] and enter in the timecard’s key number where you would normally put your Paypal or Credit Card information on the subscription page, make sure you select the the option for pre-paid timecard before you enter in the timecard’s key or it will not work. Easy and quick.
NOTE: The timecard is stackable meaning that if you just bought the game you will have 30 days play time already. You can enter in this kind of card at any point and it will ADD the 60 days to whatever remaining time you have on the account. So if you had 15 days left over from the retail copy of the game or another timecard it would add 60 days to that making it 75 days of play time remaining. It does not cancel out or make you lose already paid for time so add the cards whenever you like. I prefer to do this right away so I don’t lose them.

|Does the job, but be careful uncovering the code!,
Bought this for my daughter’s STO account (she’s quite a Trekkie), and I’m sure it would have worked easily had not the gray coating on the access code been so difficult to remove. In fact, 3 of the characters in that code were damaged during that removal process, resulting in a useless card. I contacted STO customer support, who told me to return the card to the vendor for replacement – I am currently in the process of doing that now. Hopefully I will get it replaced easily…

|Easier than a credit card,
It’s far easier to use than a credit card or PayPal for the Star Trek Online game – no forgetting about charges that are going to post to a credit card, and no need to give out your credit card information to anyone else but Amazon (who has it for all of my purchases anyhow). Very easy to use. If you already have time on your account, this simply adds to it, so it can be added at any time.
